Kent Hodges, age 69, of Gatesville passed away Thursday, February 14, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral Services will be 2:00PM, Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel with funeral honors by the Waco Fire Department. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00PM, Monday, February 18, 2013 at the funeral home. Kent was born on March 8, 1943 in Gatesville, Texas to Cleone White Hodges and the late Clyde Hodges. He attended school in Gatesville, graduating from Gatesville High School in 1962. Kent served in the US Army National Guard. He served as a fireman and a peace officer for Waco Fire Department for 30 years and spending the last 10 years as Fire Marshal, retiring in 1997. Kent loved to hunt, fish and camp. He raised hound dogs and fighting roosters. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Betty Ward Hodges; father, Clyde Hodges; and brother, Dean Hodges. Kent is survived by his daughters, Anita Hodges and Lacy Ware and husband, Cody; mother, Cleone Hodges; sister-in-law, Hazel Hodges; brother, Gary Hodges and wife, Connie; and five grandchildren, Colby Humphries, Kevin Hittle, Clayton Homeyer, Grace Ware and Brandon Ware.
