Felix Ralph Blanchard, age 64, of Houston, Texas passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2013 following a brave battle with lymphoma. Funeral services will be at 3:00PM, Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at Flint Creek Cemetery. There is no set time for visitation. Felix Ralph Blanchard was born on August 8, 1948 in Gatesville, Texas to Kathleen Palmer Blanchard and the late Ralph Blanchard. He attended school in Gatesville, graduating from Gatesville High School in 1966. He then attended Temple Junior College. He worked in the oil industry for the majority of his career, retiring from Halliburton Inc. in Houston, Texas. Following his retirement, he was employed in private business and T.D.C.J., from which he retired in 2012. Felix’s fondest memories would include time spent with his family and friends especially that spent with his grandson, Caleb, who he adored. He also loved the game of golf and spent many hours on the golf course with his friends and grandson. He always looked forward to games of backgammon with his friend, Ernie Ryan. He was a member of Cold Springs Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Blanchard. Felix is survived by his mother, Kathleen Palmer Blanchard of Gatesville; his wife, Carol Nan; his special grandson, Caleb Lueders; his step-son, Michael Lueders of Houston; his sisters, Sharon Hartman and husband, Roy, Gloria Davidson and husband, Allan, and Janet Evetts, all of Gatesville; and numerous nieces and nephews. A heartfelt thank you to a most special neighbor and friend, Betsy Elenbaas, who so diligently helped to attend to all of Felix’s needs and whom Felix loved so dearly.
