Hilma G. Onofrey

Hilma G. Onofrey, 89, of Coryell City, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2008 in Clifton. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at St. John Lutheran Church in Coryell City with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Hilma was born on March 5, 1918 to the late Henry and Louise Neimeier Gohlke in Coryell City, Texas. She attended school in Coryell City and graduated from Gatesville High School before attending Clifton Jr College. Hilma taught school in Womack before going to work for the State of Texas in 1953. She retired after 37 years working for the Texas Youth Counsel which later became the Texas Rehabilitation Commission. She married Joseph E. Onofrey on Dec 31, 1943 and he preceded her in death in 1970. Hilma was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church. She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Herring and husband Roger of Austin, Sylvia Tumbleston of Axtell; grandchildren, Sonny Herring, Joey Herring, Tammy Stanley and Joe Tumbleston and 6 great grandchildren.
