Anna Pearl Bethke, age 76, of Waco passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2013. A private graveside service was held Monday, March 4, 2013 at Rosemound Cemetery in Waco. Annie was born on November 22, 1936 in Comanche, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Henry Miller Shannon and Dorothy D. Evans Shannon. She was raised in Odessa, Texas and, after graduating from Odessa High School, spent most of her life living in Waco. She worked at Monnings Department Store, Owens Illinois glass plant, and R.M. Crow Manufacturing, but the job she enjoyed the most was working at The Penny Pincher resale shop, where she made great friends in her customers. It brought her great joy to help people that did not have much find the things they needed. She taught her family to work hard, be generous, and that it’s okay to just be YOU. Annie was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Bethke; and sister, Pat Joyce. She is survived by her children, Susie Hopson and husband, Frank, Kathy Redford Walton and husband, Kim, and Clay Redford; sisters, Jackie Padgett, and Byrl Gaden and husband, Dick; and grandchildren, Summer McClellan and husband, Kyle, McKenzie Hopson, Laura Bailey and husband, Ben, Claycee Redford and Chandler Redford. Anyone who knew Annie knew that she had a big heart for animals. Any donations to honor her memory can be made to Fuzzy Friends Rescue, P.O. Box 20966, Waco, Texas 76702 or White Mound Baptist Church, P.O. Box 103, Mound, TX 76558.
