David Glass, age 76, of Gatesville passed away Monday, April 1, 2013. Graveside services will be 2:00PM, Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Restland Cemetery with Rev. Walter Davidson officiating. There is no set time for visitation. David was born on September 15, 1936 in Gatesville, Texas to the late Francis S. and Odessa Pack Glass. He was an athlete in high school and became proficient in basketball, football, and track. David graduated from Gatesville High School in 1955. He entered the U.S. Army in 1963, achieving a sharpshooter rating in the Rangers. David was honorably discharged from the Army in 1965. He soon moved to west Texas, where he worked for Texas Oil and Gas before buying an Exxon service station in McCamey, serving at that location for 50 years. David loved to shoot and could still, at age 76, nick a birdseed-pilfering, rapidly fleeing squirrel through a hogwire fence with his Daisy Red Rider from the back door. On August 6, 1999, David married Sue Bandy and she, as well as his sister, Mary Frances Floyd, and husband, Raymond of Gatesville; brother, Donald Glass and wife, Louise of Gatesville; stepson, Bruce Bandy and wife, Judy of Alvin; stepdaughter, Winifred Weber and husband, Dan of Nassau Bay; many nieces and nephews; and many lifelong friends survive him.
