Ruby Bird

Ruby Bird, age 93, of Gatesville passed away Thursday, April 18, 2013. Funeral services will be at 2:00PM, Sunday, April 21, 2013 at King Baptist Church with Charles McKamie officiating. Burial will follow at Smith-King Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00PM, Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Scott’s Funeral Home. Ruby was born on February 27, 1920 in Coryell County, Texas to the late James and Ellen Browning Jones. She grew up on the Royalty Farm in Mound, Texas. Ruby attended school at Flat. She married Hazel Bird on February 4, 1939. They resided most of their married lives in Gatesville. Hazel preceded her in death on December 21, 2008. She was a member of King Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by her son, Victor Bird in 2007. Ruby is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Susie) McKamie and husband, Charles of Gatesville; daughter-in-law, Connie Bird of Gladewater; sister, Pearl Moore of Mound; grandchildren, Brian Bird, Amanda Cloud, Jairus McKamie, Micah McKamie, Sarah McKamie, and Caleb McKamie; and one great-grandson, Colin Bird.
