Robert Ives, age 65, of Gatesville passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013. A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Robert and Paulette’s home. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chair due to limited seating. Robert was born on July 16, 1947 in Louisiana to the late Robert Trenton and Zena Mae Fitzgerald Ives. The family moved to south Texas, where he developed strong character and grit that would shape the rest of his life. Robert served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp. for six years and was honorably discharged in 1971 after serving three terms in Vietnam. Paulette Pierce became his wife on June 9, 1983 in Conroe, Texas. They lived in Houston and Gatesville all of their married lives. He was a diesel mechanic for many years. Robert was a staunch constitutionalist who believed every word of the 2nd amendment. He was a member of Coryell County Gun Club, who loved hunting, fishing, and was always hunting for a place to fish. Robert is survived by his wife, Paulette Ives; son, Robert Raymond Ives; daughters, Lynn Hawkins, Cassandra Luchak, and Belinda Kneblick; sisters, Bobbie Lee and JoAnn Mahaffey; brother and sister-in-law, Darrell and Cindy Pierce; grandchildren, Amanda Hager, Trenton Hawkins, Daniel Hawkins, Jason Hawkins, Austin Ives, Dalton Luchak, Alissa Ives, Ryan Kneblick, Randy Kneblick, Danielle Luchak, and Ethan Ives; three great-grandchildren; and numerous brother-like hunting and fishing buddies.
