On Sunday morning, June 9, 2013, the Lord called Kathleen Bernice Cockrell to her eternal home in heaven to be with Him forever. Kathleen was a long time resident of Gatesville and Temple, Texas. She was born on February 16, 1927 in Bell County, Texas to Thomas E. Humphrey and Laura Alice Finch Humphrey, she was the youngest of seven children born to this union. On April 12, 1943, she married R. T. (Buck) Cockrell in Bell County, Texas. To this union, seven children were born; Beth, Danford, Denver, Brenda, Bradley, Royse, and Humphrey. Kathleen helped her husband farm and ranch for many years until his death, at which time she began a career at Leaird’s department store in Gatesville, Texas. She loved meeting people and made many friends while at Leaird’s. Kathleen was a loving, kind, friendly, and gentle lady that treated everyone with love and respect at all times. She was a Christian and knew that Jesus Christ was her Lord and Savior. She was ready to meet the Lord in heaven. She was a member of Gateway Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father; mother; two brothers; four sisters; husband, R. T. (Buck) Cockrell; daughter, Alice Beth Williams Benner; sons-in-law, Ronnie W. Adams and Rodney G. Hester. Kathleen is survived by five sons, Danford Cockrell and wife, Renate, Denver Cockrell and wife, Debbie, Bradley Cockrell and wife, Tonia, Royse Cockrell and wife, Janice, and Humphrey Cockrell and wife, Debbie; one daughter, Brenda Adams Hester; 22 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. Kathleen’s viewing will be on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 from 5:00 – 7:00PM at the funeral home. The funeral service will be Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 10:00AM at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel in Gatesville, Texas. Burial will follow the service at Restland Cemetery in Gatesville, Texas.
