Vanda Gardner, 59, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2008 at her residence near Turnersville. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM, Monday, April 7, 2008 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel with her nephew Larry Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Turnersville Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 4-6 Pm on Sunday at the funeral home. Vanda was born to Lucius Martin and R.P. Williams on August 22, 1948 in Gatesville. She graduated from Turnersville High School in 1966 and then married Robert on July 2, 1966. During her early married life she worked for various financial institutions in California and Waco. After being stationed in California for 4 years, she and Robert returned home to the Turnersville Community. She was then employed for over 20 years by the Jonesboro Independent School District. She spent most of those years as a teacher’s aide. She was involved in many school activities and organizations, founded the high school drill team and was called Mrs. G. by the students in which she so positively influenced. She delighted in her four grandchildren and their activities. She also enjoyed traveling, arts and crafts, antiquing, auctions, and quilting. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Bob Williams. Vanda is survived by her husband, Robert Gardner; daughters, Kim Edwards and husband John of Cleburne, Jan Brister and husband David of Lampasas; four grandchildren, William & Abby Edwards and Case & Emily Brister; sister, Donna Jo McLaughin and husband Grady of Gatesville; brother, Earl Williams and wife Daune also of Gatesville. Memorials may be given to the Turnersville Cemetery Association.
