Heaven hit a royal flush as Kyle Pruitt, age 64, of Gatesville, entered his heavenly home Sunday, June 30, 2013. Funeral services will be 2:00p.m., Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at First United Methodist Church of Gatesville. Burial will be at Weaver Chapel Cemetery with visitation to follow at the First United Methodist Church from 5:00 – 7:00p.m. Kyle was born on August 14, 1948 in Gatesville, Texas to Wayne H. and Marie Lofland Pruitt. He graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1966. He attended Tarleton State College, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in May of 1970. He joined the Texas Army National Guard in May 1970 and served six years. He was honorably discharged in February 1976. Kyle married the love of his life, Joyce Nichols in December 1968. Kyle and Joyce moved to a small town called Coyanosa in 1970 and went to work for A.B. Foster raising hogs, cantaloupe, and onions. While in west Texas, they had three daughters, Stacy, Lisa, and Karen. In 1977, they moved back to Jonesboro and went to work for Sellers Grain, selling fertilizer and farm equipment. In 1990, Kyle was elected Commissioner of Precinct 4 for Coryell County. He held that position for 16 years. He worked farming and ranching numerous acres and also was involved in the cattle trucking business. He along with his wife, Joyce, and daughters opened Pruitt’s convenience store in 1992 and still operate the store today. In 1985, Kyle was elected to the Board of Directors for the Guaranty Bank and Trust Co., remaining on the board until 2004. In 2005, along with three of his closest friends, bought the First National Bank of Evant and in 2008, they built a location in Gatesville. Kyle loved spending time with his kids and grandkids, whether it was at home or at the lake. They were all the apple of his eye and he loved them all dearly. He wanted nothing but the best for them all. Kyle enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Pruitt, in 2012. Kyle leaves behind his wife of 45 years, Joyce; three daughters, Stacy Pruitt Pearce and husband, Brian of Gatesville, Lisa Bankhead and husband Keith of Gatesville, and Karen Fuchs and husband, Scott of San Angelo; mother, Marie Pruitt of Gatesville; brother, Kenneth and wife, Sandra of New Braunfels; his beloved grandkids, who called him “The Best PaPa Ever”, Dylan Kyle, Bradyn, Ashtyn, Emmalee, Karson, Kasen, Mason, and Mallory; numerous family members; and a host of wonderful friends who will miss him dearly.
