George Lloyd Edwards

George L. Edwards, 66, of Pearl passed away in Gatesville on Wednesday, September 25, 2013. Graveside Services will be 10:00a.m., Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Pearl Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00p.m, Friday, September 27, 2013 at Scott’s Funeral Home. George was born on October 18, 1946 in Temple, Texas to the late George P. and Rachel Williamson Edwards. He grew up in Nome, Texas and graduated from Hardin-Jefferson High School. He attended Kilgore Community College. George received his bachelor’s degree from Sam Houston University and taught in the public schools in the Houston area for a number of years. He moved to Gatesville in 1985 and taught at the Windham School System for 24 years. He loved watching the Texas Longhorns and MCC basketball teams play and was overall an avid sports fan. He was preceded in death by his father, George P. Edwards, who was in an accident before he was born; mother, Rachel; and step-father, Ervin Richmond. George is survived by his children, Rachel Elizabeth Malone and husband, George, Christopher George Edwards, and Zane Richmond Edwards; and four grandchildren.
