Gerald Raymond Gamble, age 88, passed away Sunday May 18, 2008, from kidney failure at Universal Hospice in Fort Worth. Services are scheduled for 1:00 PM Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at Scott’s Funeral Home in Gatesville, TX. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 1 to 3 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Gerald was born January 29, 1920 in Dunnegan, Missouri. He was the son of the late Edgar Thomas Gamble and Buelah Lowry Gamble. He was a retired Major of the United States Army. Gerald was a WWII combat Veteran and qualified for the atomic artillery. He married Geraldine Paula Davis in July 1946. Gerald was manager of H S Kress Variety Store in Tulsa, Oklahoma and H B Davis Variety store in Gatesville, TX. In later life he was a salesman and travel agent. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ralph Fredrick Gamble and grandson, Christopher Charles Gamble. Survivors include son; Phillip Gamble and wife Melanie, daughters; Carolyn Gamble Coward and husband Dan, grandchildren; Greg Coward and wife Julie, Diana Coward Robyler and husband Brad, Cpt. Corey Davis Gamble and wife Ginger, Andrea Paula Gamble, great grandchildren; Lauren and Clay Robyler, half-sisters; Helen Roberts and husband Leon, Shirley Hayes and Bettye Rogers.
