Lucille Freeman Harris Grubb, 95, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 19, 2008 at a local nursing home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 20, 2008 at Purmela Baptist Church with burial following at Live Oak Cemetery in the Liberty Ohio Community near Hamilton. The family will receive visitors at Scott’s Funeral Home on Wednesday May 21, 2008 from 6-8 P.M. Lucille was born on April 9, 1913 to Walter and Agnes Moore Freeman in Ireland, Texas. She was raised at Purmela where she attended school. After completing school she worked as a housekeeper prior to marrying Audley Harris on August 17, 1940 and settling in Purmela to be a lifelong home-maker and farmer. She enjoyed outdoor activities, serving as a care giver and was an excellent seamstress making many quilts for friends and family. Mr. Harris passed away on July 9, 1974. Lucille later married Fred Grubb on February 14, 1984 and he passed away on December 11, 1989. She was preceded in death by husbands Audley Harris and Fred Grubb; Her parents, Walter and Agnes Freeman; Brothers, Homer Freeman and James Freeman; and Sister, Vella Young. She is survived by a sister, Ellen Byrom of Austin; sister-in-law, Ruby Freeman of Evant; step-son Carl Grubb of Evant; step-daughter Helen Cox of San Antonio and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to either Live Oak Cemetery or Purmela Baptist Church.
