Billy Don “Bill” Henson, age 79, of Gatesville went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, October 8, 2013. Funeral services will be 10:00a.m., Friday, October 11, 2013 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery. There is no set time for visitation. Bill was born on August 8, 1934 in Ewing, Texas to Joe Will “Dub” and Don Faye Henson. After graduating from Gatesville High School in 1952, he attended Draughn’s Business School and Texas Tech University and eventually went on to serve his country in the US Army. In 1961, he went to work for Central Freight Lines in Gatesville, TX as an Agent. He was then employed as a civilian worker for the Department of the Army at Fort Hood, where he retired as a Realty Specialist after 26 years. He was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church of Gatesville where he served in various capacities. Proudly, he was also a charter member of Johnny Watkins Sunday School. Bill was a man of his word and will be remembered as a man with unwavering loyalty, his love of playing dominoes, and his devotion and enthusiasm for supporting his children and grandchildren in their various extracurricular activities. Bill was most proud of the time he spent coaching his sons in little league baseball. He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandson, Samuel Alan Henson. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Patricia Ann “Pat” Miller Henson; sons, Mark Alan Henson and wife, Suzanne of Gatesville and Marshall Gene Henson and wife, Lynnette of Goliad; daughter, Rexann Henson Knowles and husband, Curtis of Grandview; brother, Joe Pat Henson and wife, Loretta of Troy; sister, Rita Terry Henson Sherwood and husband, Len of Hewitt; grandchildren, Erin Trafford and husband, Paul, Cal Knowles, Jake Henson, Hanna Henson, Macee Knowles, Ralee Knowles, Carolina Henson, and Beth Henson; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends that were all very special to him.
