George Patterson

George Patterson, age 77, of Gatesville passed away Thursday, October 31, 2013. Funeral services will be 10:00a.m., Monday, November 4, 2013 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Kerzee officiating. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:00 – 3:00p.m., Sunday, November 3, 2013 at the funeral home. George was born on August 2, 1936 in the Union community of Coryell County, Texas to the late Sam B. and Dora Schaub Patterson. He grew up in Union community and went to school in the Plainview community, graduating from Gatesville High School in 1954. George married Janis Jowers on November 29, 1956. They resided in Gatesville most of their married life. He was a civil service employee as an electrician, at Fort Hood, retiring after 22 years of service. George enjoyed farming and ranching, traveling with Gatesville RV Club, and hosting family gatherings. He was a member of Gatesville Masonic Lodge #197 A.F. & A.M. and Pidcoke United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janis Patterson on May 9, 2011. George is survived by sons, Mike Patterson and wife, Kelli and Randy Patterson and wife, Becky, all of Gatesville; daughter, Dana Walters and husband, Kraig of Gatesville; sisters, Rosalie Blanchard of Waco, Mary Lou Derflinger and husband, Bob of San Antonio, Dora Jean Dyson and husband, Jerry of Gatesville, Joyce Edmond and husband, Eugene of Mosheim, Grace Tennison of Gatesville, Evelyn Thomas and husband, T. R. of Gatesville; brother, Robert (Pat) Patterson and wife, JoAnn of Gatesville; nine grandchildren, Amy Patterson Ivy and husband, Alan, Joe Patterson, Lee Patterson, Kory Walters, Kevin Walters, Ty Patterson, Kayla Patterson, Emily Patterson, and Joseph Sadler; and six great-grandchildren, Quinton and Coralise Ivy, Whitney, Megan, and Kelsy Buchanan, and Aiden Rodriguez.
