Mendle Mensch, age 73 of Moffat, passed away on Monday, November 04, 2013 in Gatesville. Memorial services will be held at 6:30p.m., Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Faith Temple Lighthouse in Temple, with Rev. Mattie Lee Cox and Rev. Jackie Cox officiating. Mendle was born on December 26, 1939 in Temple, to the late T.R. Mensch, Sr. and Eunice Lewis Mensch. He grew up and went to school in the Flat community. He began his career in public safety as a firefighter for the Temple Fire Department from 1966 to 1974, earning the rank of Captain. He then became a police officer for the Belton Police Department and later served as a deputy sheriff for the Bell County Sheriff’s Department and Nolanville Police Department, retiring in 1990. He was a Pentecostal Minister while he served in law enforcement and after his retirement, pastored various churches in the Bell County area. He loved the outdoors and a big part of his life, was hunting and fishing, especially bow hunting. He was preceded in death by three grandchildren and a brother, Theodore Mensch, Jr. He is survived by his sons, Gary Mensch and wife, Charlotte of Moffat, Mitchell Mensch and wife, Eva of Temple, Layne Mensch of Belton, Wayne Mensch of Moffat; daughter, Mindy Davis and husband, Shane of Moffat; sister, Martha Simmons and husband Gaylon of Gatesville, fifteen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
