Ruth Hale Beck

Ruth Hale Beck, 76, of Gatesville, passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2008 at a local hospital. Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Steve Dominy and Rev. Joe Broadway officiating. Burial will follow at Ater Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Ruth was born on May 2, 1932 to the late Harvey and Ellie Veasey Hale in the Hay Valley community. She attended school in Jonesboro before she married Bob Beck on February 19, 1949. From that day forward their lives have been truly united. Ruth was a member of First Baptist Church in Gatesville and sang in the Joy Choir and the Sanctuary Choir. Ruth was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and she supported the local teams. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Harvey Hale and sisters, Quillie Moore and Aline Morgan. She is survived by her husband of 59 years Bob Beck; daughters Ruth Ann Johnson and husband Bob of Lockhart; Ronda Campbell and husband Mike of Flat; Lynn Gohlke; Nancy Burns and husband Clark and son Tim Beck of Gatesville; grandchildren Laurie Johnson of Austin; Kristi Campbell of Flat; Jeremy Johnson and wife Velda of Gatesville; Clint Campbell and wife Teri of Flat; Ryan Crawford and wife Shalan of Gatesville; Emily Herzog and husband Matt of Waco; Eric Johnson of Lockhart; Kerri Johnson of Lockhart and Jarad Gohlke of Gatesville. She was blessed with six great grandchildren Everett and Ella Johnson, Elliott Lanham, Hunter Crawford of Gatesville, and Denise and Keith Cornwell of Flat. She is also survived by two sisters Betty Snider of San Angelo; Judy Freeman of Brownwood; sister-in-law Modene Shepard of Carlsbad, NM; brother-in-law A. D. (Red) Morgan of Levita and numerous nieces and nephews.
