W. C. Richards, Jr.

W. C. Richards, Jr., age 66, of Lancaster passed away from this life on Friday, November 29, 2013 after a very lengthy illness. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at Restland Cemetery. Visitation will be 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at Scott’s Funeral Home. W. C. was born in Clifton, Texas on November 17, 1947. He was in the U. S. Army from 1968 – 1969 in the 919th Engineer Company, as a heavy machine operator, serving one tour in Vietnam. He was an active member of the American Legion Post #379 and the V. F. W. He loved his cats and was an avid camper and fisherman. W. C. enjoyed the simple things in life like watching the squirrels and birds play, Texas Rangers baseball, and any football game. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Richards, Sr. and Mattie Benner Richards; and sister, Carol Richards Corbitt. W. C. is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Richards of Lancaster; daughter, Audra Pavelka of Corpus Christi; grandson, Ethan Pavelka of Corpus Christi; four step-children; 11 step-grandchildren; and 11 step-great-grandchildren.
