Joel (Jerry) Beck

Joel (Jerry) Beck, age 67, of Nolanville passed away Monday, December 2, 2013. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel in Gatesville. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at the funeral home. Jerry was born on January 8, 1946 in Eastman, Georgia to the late Joel and Arnadell Chance Beck. He grew up in Eastman, Georgia and graduated from Dodge County High School in 1964. He obtained an associate’s degree from Central Texas College. Jerry married Barbara Robertson on June 23, 1973. They have resided in Nolanville for 40 years. He served eight years in the U. S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1974 after serving two tours in Vietnam. He was a civil service employee at Fort Hood, as an Installation Materials Maintenance Officer, retiring in 2001 after 26 years of service. He was a member and a deacon of First Baptist Church in Nolanville. Jerry was a volunteer at Highland Lakes Camp and Conference Center. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Julia Kate Lee. Joel is survived by his wife, Barbara Beck; brothers, Jack Beck of Eastman, Georgia and Jeff Beck of Crystal River, Florida; aunt, Irene Chance of Eastman, Georgia; nieces, Jan Robertson of Nolanville, Katie Beck of Homosassa, Florida, and Roberta Fooks of Texarkana, Arkansas; nephews, John Robert Lee of Eastman, Georgia, Jim Hodges of Horatio, Arkansas, and Marshall Hodges of Orange, Texas; and a host of friends. Memorials may be made to individuals favorite charity.
