Jerry Clyde Olson

Jerry Olson, 73, of Flat passed away at home surrounded by his family on December 21, 2013. Graveside Services will be at 3:00 PM on Monday, December 23, 2013 at Turnersville Cemetery. There is no visitation. Jerry was born on November 3, 1940 in Clifton, Texas the son of the late Olga Frances Wagner and Johnny Clyde Olson. He was raised in the Hurst Springs and Turnersville areas. He graduated from Turnersville in 1959. After high school, Jerry joined the Army National Guard serving in the 49th AD stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and Fort Polk, Louisiana. Jerry married the love of his life, Beverly Orlean Latham on September 14, 1962 in Gatesville. Jerry was a barber for 42 years working in the Fort Hood and Fort Gates area. He loved to travel, fishing, listening to country and bluegrass music and excelled in the sports of football, baseball and basketball. Jerry is survived by children, Gwen Malone and husband James, Loretta Carothers and husband Johnny, James Olson and wife Donna, Beverly Kay Spencer and husband Brance, Natalie Olson and fiancé Eric all of Gatesville, Brenda Wiley and husband Jack of Axtell, TX, Darren Olson and fiancé Jennifer of Franklin, GA, Jerry Shannon Olson and wife Katie of San Diego, CA; sisters, Joan Bohannon and husband Don of Ft. Worth, TX, Barbara Shelton of Temple, TX; brother, Elton Olson of Hewitt, TX; 10 grandchildren and one on the way and 4 great grandchildren.
