Martha Sue Gilbreath, age 80, of Navasota, formerly of Gatesville, passed away Monday, January 27, 2014. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 30, 2014, at Scott’s Funeral Home in Gatesville with Rev. Matt Richard officiating. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at Scott’s Funeral Home. Martha Sue was born on February 21, 1933, in the Schley community of Coryell County to the late Thomas Lott and Dora Estelle Blackman. She graduated from Gatesville High School. Martha Sue married Robert Gilbreath on July 15, 1950, in Tucumcari, New Mexico. She resided in Gatesville for most of her life, living in Moody, Texas, for a short time, and then later moving to Navasota. Martha was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, and friend. She loved her Lord and shared this love with her family. No stranger to hard work, Martha worked for many years at Walls Sewing Factory and McGregor Furniture. She enjoyed sewing, reading, gardening, and cooking. She never met a stranger. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, on March 14, 1994. She was also preceded in death by her infant son, Jim Marion Gilbreath and son, Robert Anthony Gilbreath; parents, Thomas Lott and Dora Estelle Blackman; brothers, Lavell (Do), Vernon, Clarence, and Emmitt; and sisters, Dorothy (Sis), Delia Belle, and Exa. Martha Sue is survived by her sons, Mark Gilbreath of Temple and Michael Gilbreath and wife, Sandy, of The Grove; daughter, Shannon Botkin and husband, Charles, of Navasota; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Madison, Sydney, Samantha, and Amanda; sisters, Emma Lorene and Hattie Marie; brother, M. J.; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Memorials may be made to Eastwood Baptist Church, 2518 E. Main St., Gatesville, TX 76528.
