Vada Pearl Blanchard

Vada Blanchard, 81, of Gatesville, passed away on Friday, June 27, 2008 at a local care center. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday July, 1, 2008 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Restland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM on Monday at the funeral home. Vada Blanchard was born on February 13, 1927 in Flat, Texas as one of 6 children born to the late Edd and Sallie Ross Bird. She attended school in the Hubbard/Ewing Community before marrying Overton Allen Blanchard on September 18, 1947. They moved to Arizona for 13 years before returning back to Gatesville in 1966. Mrs. Blanchard was a member of Live Oak Baptist Church for nearly 40 years and also worked at the Rotunda Nursing Home for several years. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband and her siblings, Truman Bird, Margaret Blanchard, Katherine Goodwin and Edd Bird, Jr. She is survived by her daughters, Beth Ingram, Jean Buth, Linda Summers and husband Tony; brother, Charles (Doogie) Bird; sister-in-law, Kathleen Blanchard; grandchildren, Michael Ingram and wife Rose, Nancy Mannix and husband Justin, Lisa Buth, Tammy Blanchard and husband Tom, Melissa Buth, Jessica Ross, Alan Summers, Courteney Summers; great grandsons, Ryan Ross, Colton Mannix, Anthony Ross, Caleb Mannix and numerous nieces and nephews.
