Dorothy Jean Lam

Dorothy Jean Lam, age 86, of Gatesville passed away in Temple on Friday, February 7, 2014 in the loving arms of her family. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 10, 2014 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel with Jimmie Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow at Seaton Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., Sunday, February 9, 2014 at the funeral home. Dorothy Jean was born on July 4, 1927 near Leon Junction, Texas on the family farm to the late William H. and Ruby Duncan Gilbreath. She went to school in Leon Junction and Gatesville. She married the love of her life, George S. Lam, Jr. on March 10, 1945. They resided most of their lives in Coryell County. Dorothy Jean worked hard all of her life in support of her family. She love being with her family and was affectionately called “Sweet Mama” by her grandchildren and many others. Dorothy Jean is survived by her husband of 68 years, George S. Lam, Jr.; son, Mike Lam and wife, Peggy; daughters, Deborah Gunderson and husband, Charles, Suzanne Sellers and husband, Bob; sister, Josephine Pollard; five grandchildren, Bill Lam, Jim Lam, Dan Lam, Julie Healer, and Ben Ward; and five great-grandchildren.
