Cordelia (DeeDee) Barnard

Cordelia (DeeDee) Barnard, age 96, of Gatesville passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2014. Funeral services will be 4:00 p.m., Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Davidson Cemetery. There is no set time for visitation. Cordelia (DeeDee) was born on May 8, 1917 in Waco, Texas to the late Henry V. and Lecie Ann Woods Tucker. She grew up in Waco and attended school there. She married J. C. (Chick) Barnard on August 22, 1936. They resided in Mound all their married lives. She worked at Woods Sewing Factory in Waco and at the Gatesville State School for Boys, retiring in 1976. She was a member of White Mound Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. C. (Chick) Barnard, in 1981; and son, Bob Barnard in 2003. Cordelia (DeeDee) is survived by her grandchildren, Cliff Barnard and wife, Traci, and Sherri Cox and husband, Nelson; great-grandchildren, Britney Mooney, Whitney Carothers, Raygan Evetts, Lauren Goins, and Morgan Barnard; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
