Mary Gladys Vandiver

Mary Gladys Vandiver, age 85, of Gatesville passed away Monday, February 10, 2014. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 14, 2014 at Davidson Cemetery with the Rev. Jeff Huckeby officiating. There is no set time for visitation. Mary was born on June 3, 1928 in Coryell County, Texas to the late Luther and Ruth Love Bond. She grew up in Gatesville and graduated from Gatesville High School in 1945. She married Charles E. Vandiver on December 30, 1945. They resided in Gatesville since 1965. Mary worked at Smead in McGregor for 15 years, retiring in 1991. She was a member of Pecan Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Vonita Simmons in 1995; brother, Jay Blackstock; sisters, Ruth McLaughlin, Ruby Lapp, and Rose McBride. Mary is survived by her husband of 68 years, Charles E. Vandiver; daughter, Charlotte Weaver and husband, Danny of Oglesby; four grandchildren, Charley Weaver, Amanda Weaver, Cody Simmons, and Lindsey Janisch; four great-grandchildren, Lane Simmons, Skyler Johnson, Bailey Johnson, and Chloe Janisch; great-great-grandchildren, Kutter Carpenter and Logan Simmons; sister, Louise Harris of Marietta, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.
