Viola May Vanjoske, age 79, of Gatesville passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2014. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Terry Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 14, 2014 at the funeral home. Viola was born on December 13, 1934 in Coleman County, Texas to the late Vernon and Irene Sluder Collins. She attended school in Gouldbusk and Rockwood. She raised her family in Ballinger, Texas and was active in the local Baptist church. She devoted 15 years of her life supporting her daughter, Lisa Diane Howard, during her illness and made many sacrifices. After Lisa’s death, she moved to Gatesville and married Richard Vanjoske on August 30, 2008. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Lisa Diane Howard, four brothers, one sister, and two grandchildren. Viola is survived by her husband, Richard Vanjoske; sons, Glynn Howard and wife, Iris, Don L. Howard and wife, Debra, and James Howard and wife, Trish; daughter, Sandra Franks, Heather Bovee and husband, Mark, and Amy Crawford and husband, Gerald; sisters, Barbara Wiggins, and Wanda Shelton; brother, Richard Collins; 20 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
