Grady Harper Spence, Jr.

Grady Harper Spence, Sr., age 84, of Gatesville passed away Saturday, July 5, 2008 at his residence. Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at King Baptist Church. Burial will follow at King Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Grady was born July 30, 1923 in Rogers, Texas. He was the son of Austin and Clara Mae Gilchrist Spence. Grady married Frances Stovall on August 31, 1947. He worked at Fort Hood and Killeen in The Road and Grounds Department for over 20 years. He loved farming, gardening and wood working. Grady was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Harold (Red) Spence, Reb Trueitt Spence and a sister-in-laws; Doris Pledger Spence and Kathryn Stovall Mosley and several nieces and nephews. Survivors include wife; Frances Spence, son; Grady H. Spence, Jr. and wife Sandra, daughter; Luanna Phillips, sister-in-law; Lucy Hammack Spence, grandchildren; Alex Patrick and Andy Patrick and one great grandchild; Aidan Patrick.
