(Doc) moved to Gatesville to establish his veterinary practice in 1952, and they remained in Gatesville for the remainder of their lives. They had three daughters: Pamela, Barbara, and Vicki. Mavis worked at the Gatesville State School for Boys as a teacher assistant, co-owned a needlecraft shop with Martha Bone, and worked at the veterinary hospital with A.G. Mavis attended the Cedar Ridge Church of Christ. Her interests included golf, playing cards with friends, and volunteering at the Care Center in Gatesville. Mavis was preceded in death by her husband in 1995, her daughter, Pamela in 2007, her parents, and her siblings.
