Marie Chambers

Rosa Marie Chambers, age 81, of Gatesville passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Darrell Feemster officiating. Burial will follow at Smith Cemetery in Kempner at 3:30 p.m. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. Rosa Marie was born on June 23, 1932 in Coryell County, Texas to the late W. R. (Bill) and Rosa Larance Sims. She grew up and attended school in Gatesville. She was a nurse for Dr. Wendell and E. E. Lowrey for 36 years, retiring in February 1995. Marie married H. R. Speer in 1948; he preceded her in death in 1965. And later she married Cleve Chambers; he preceded her in death in 2001. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She is survived by her son, Mackey D. Speer and wife, Karen of Temple; daughter, Wanda F. Cook and husband, David of Kempner; sisters, Daisy Laverne Spencer of McKinney and Linda Duncan of Abilene; brother, J. R. Sims of Mexia; four grandchildren, Michelle Crain, Billy Cook, Margie White, and Britten Tower; and seven great-grandchildren.
