Sue Jones

Sue Jones, 91, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, April 25, 2014 at home in Gatesville. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Scott’s Funeral Home with burial following at Restland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.  Sue was born on May 21, 1922 in Hamilton to the late John and Percy Drake Hibits. After high school she moved from Hamilton to Gatesville to work for the local telephone company as a switchboard operator. While working in Gatesville, she met and married the love of her life, Marvin (Snook) Jones. Together they enjoyed over 50 years of marriage. Her passions were being a wonderful, loving and devoted homemaker. She spent her life taking care of family and friends, always ready to prepare a meal for anyone who dropped in and had a helping hand for anyone in need. As a member of the Gatesville Country Club’s Ladies Golf Association, she enjoyed playing golf and cards for many years. During her later years she also enjoyed traveling and socializing over meals with her many friends. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sisters and 1 brother.  Sue is survived by her 3 daughters, Judy Rauschenberg of Dallas Center, Iowa, Shirley Beck and husband Rickie of Gatesville and Sharon Rucker and husband, Allan of Lott; 6 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
