Betty Bird, age 77, of Gatesville passed away Sunday, May 4, 2014. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Smith-King Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at the funeral home.Betty was born on July 7, 1936 in Caldwell, Texas to the late James Terrell and Lois Donnahue Terrell. She worked as a nurse’s aide and sold fruit and vegetables at the Farmer’s Market with her husband, Arvil Ray.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arvil Bird; sons, Jimmy Dale Carothers and David Keith Smith; and sisters, Doris Gribble, Jane Beasley, and Joyce Patterson.Betty is survived by her daughter, Debbie Waclawczyk; son, William Carothers and wife, Becky; step-sons, Mike Bird, Mark Bird, and Johnny Hughes; step-daughter, Henrietta Trull; sisters, Frances Dowell and husband, Junior and Janet Johnson and husband, Jimmy; eight grandchildren, Lindsey Russell, Michael Smith, and wife, Diane, Lance Waclawczyk and wife, Rachael, Lana Julian and husband, Keith, Morgan Smith, Shelby Smith, Levi Smith, and Joshua Lafortune; and eight great-grandchildren.
