Maedell McCarver

Maedell McCarver, 100, a lifelong resident of Gatesville, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2014 at a local nursing facility. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, May 12, 2014 at Scott’s Funeral Home with burial following at the McCarver Family Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-5 PM on Sunday at the funeral home. Maedell was born on March 26, 1914 in the Mountain Community, the first born of five children to Bud and Lewis West Pollard. She married Lawrence McCarver on October 12, 1930 and they celebrated 73 years together before he preceded her in death. Maedell’s favorite things in life always had to do with family. Maybe it was feeding, visiting and just taking care of them. She also retired from TYC after 10 years. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother and will forever be missed. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, J.L. and grandsons, Jerry Don McCarver and Steven McClure. Maedell is survived by her sons, Glen McCarver and wife Jerry of Gatesville, Gary McCarver and wife Peggy of Golinda; daughters, Sue Hodges of Alvarado, Linda McClure and husband Jerry of Denton; daughter-in-law Joann McCarver of Lillian; brother, Milton Pollard of Gatesville; sister, Joann Etchison of Gatesville; sister-in-law, Josephine Pollard of Gatesville; 15 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
