John Winfred Reesing, age 92, of San Antonio, Texas died on Monday, May 12, 2014. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Shearer Hills Baptist Church, 12615 San Pedro, San Antonio, TX with Dr. Dowell Loftis officiating. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 16, 2014 at Gatesville Masonic Cemetery with the Rev. Tim Crosby officiating. He was born in Cranfills Gap, Texas on March 19, 1922 to Elma Grimland Reesing and Otto H. Reesing. On December 17, 1949, he married Hallie Jo Jackson. They celebrated 65 years of happy marriage. He graduated from Texas A&M University (Class of ’44) with a degree in Agriculture. He retired in 1984 as Corporate Secretary of the Federal Land Bank of Texas (now the Farm Credit Bank of Texas) after 32 years of service. During World War II, he served with the US Army Corps of Engineers in Europe. He served as a Deacon in the Baptist Church for more than 50 years and a member of Gatesville Lodge 197, A.F. & A.M., for over 60 years, Austin Scottish Rite for over 50 years, San Antonio A&M Club and the Norwegian Society of Texas. He was a member of Shearer Hills Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Hallie Jo Jackson Reesing; his daughter, Dr. Jo Bess Reesing Hammer and Lisa Anthony of Austin and his daughter, Catherine Anne Reesing Tiller and husband, Billy, of San Antonio; five grandchildren, Joel Hammer and Nathan Hammer of Austin and Andrew Hammer of Bozeman, Montana, Catherine Tiller Huddleston and husband, Ben, of Uvalde, Texas and Rebecca Tiller of Ft. Worth, Texas. He is also survived by one sister, Evelyn Smith of Denton, Texas. He is preceded in death by both of his parents and one brother, Harlan A. Reesing and one sister, Martha Reesing Morgan. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The San Antonio A&M Club Foundation Scholarship, 6205 West Avenue, San Antonio, TX 78213.
