William (Bob) Thompson, age 83, of Gatesville passed away Sunday, June 1, 2014. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ken Laney, Rev. Steve Thompson, and Rev. Keith Cogburn officiating. Visitation will follow the service. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery. Bob was born on August 10, 1930 in Binger, Oklahoma to the late Jerry and Willie Mae Hudgspeth Thompson. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955, as well as the Army Reserve, and National Guard. He married Natha Mustian on July 7, 1956 in Fort Worth, Texas. They resided most of their married life in Fort Worth and east Texas, moving to Gatesville in 2004. Bob was a Master Plumber and worked in maintenance at Bell Helicopter, retiring after 20 years. He was saved and baptized at Glenview Baptist Church. He taught three year olds in Sunday school for 24 years. Bob was ordained a deacon in 1982 at Glenview Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas; he continued to serve as a deacon when he moved to Gatesville at Live Oak Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Jack Thompson; and sisters, Virginia Allen and Othella Pippin. Bob is survived by his wife of 57 years, Natha Thompson; daughter, Laura Thompson Cogburn and husband, Keith of Franklin, Wisconsin; son, Steve Thompson and wife, Juanice of Belton; sister, Susan Bryan of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Emily Cogburn, John Cogburn, Rachel Thompson, Micah Thompson, and Danielle Thompson.
