Kenneth Thompson

Kenneth Thompson, age 61, of China Spring passed away Monday, June 9, 2014. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Hemmeline Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday, June 13, 2014 at the funeral home. Kenneth was born on August 13, 1952 in Gatesville, Texas to the late Sid and Mary Louise Schoenewolf Thompson. He graduated from Gatesville High School in 1970. He married Barbara McLeod on May 26, 1972. He started working at age 15 for Stanley Jones and became a brick mason, continuing in that career path for 46 years. He worked for Quality Brickworks, Ltd. in Robinson for the last 20 years where he has worked on the Hillcrest Cancer Center, Providence Hospital, numerous local schools, and McLane Stadium until March 22, 2014. He earned the Master Craftsman (Masonry) Golden Trowel Award in 2012. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Barbara (Bobbie) McLeod Thompson; sister, Dianne Good and husband, Carvel of Texarkana; brother, Kermit Thompson of Gatesville; and several nieces and nephews.
