Carrol Wayne Evetts

Carrol Wayne Evetts, age 78, of Gatesville passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2014. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel with Jimmie Ferguson and Rev. Ken Laney officiating. Burial will follow at Pidcoke Cemetery. There is no set time for visitation. Carrol Wayne was born on June 21, 1936 in Pidcoke, Texas to the late Charlie Hugh Evetts and Bettie Basham Evetts. He attended school in Gatesville, graduating from Gatesville High School in 1956. He was drafted after high school into the U.S. Army for 2 years, serving in Germany. Carrol Wayne married Judy Russo on July 2, 1972; she preceded him in death on March 27, 1993. They lived in Harlingen, Corpus Christi, and San Antonio throughout their married lives. He moved to Gatesville in 1995. He retired from Monroe Office Machines. Carrol Wayne attended Fort Gates Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Catherine Jones, Robert H. Evetts, Wendell Evetts, Jackie Evetts, Margaret Veazey, and Curtis Riley Evetts. Carrol Wayne is survived by his brothers, Alford Evetts and Bobby Sol Evetts; and 20 nieces and nephews.
