Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel with John Davidson and Rev. Walter Davidson officiating. Burial will follow at Davidson Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at the funeral home. Robert was born the only child of John Wesley and Mabel (McCright) Davidson on September 13, 1921 in the Pulltight community of Coryell County. He grew up on a farm in Coryell County, Texas and attended the old Davidson School, graduating from Gatesville High School in 1938. After attending Howard Payne University for a year, Robert went to work for the Consolidated Aircraft Corp. (now Lockheed-Martin) in 1942. He remained with the company for 42 years. He married Gloria Jean Mercer on August 12, 1968 in Fort Worth, Texas, where they made their home until his retirement in 1984. Robert enjoyed several interests, which included reading, following the stock market, and taking care of “the old homeplace”. However, nothing gave him greater pleasure than spending time with his only grandchild, Preston, who always put a smile on his face. Robert was baptized in Coryell Creek at an early age and attended church with his family as long as his health permitted. Robert is survived by his wife of 45 years, Gloria Davidson; son, John Davidson and wife, Amy; grandson, Preston Davidson, all of Gatesville. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
