Robert Douglas Lipsey, age 71, of Gatesville passed away Saturday, June 28, 2014. A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 2, 2014 at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Robert was born on July 28, 1942 in Gatesville, Texas to the late Curtis and Annie Holland Lipsey. He attended school in Gatesville, graduating from Gatesville High School in 1960. He continued his education at Southwest Texas State College. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years. He retired from LTV Corp. after 20+ years, as a technical representative on the radar and electrical systems of the A-7 aircraft. He was attached to the different military services with the A-7 aircraft and traveled the world with them. Robert later worked for the Super Collider as a safety engineer until it closed. He then started his own construction company building steel frame houses, and did jobs for the VA in Waco, as well as the City of Killeen, US Forrest Service in Colorado, and other jobs with larger construction firms in central Texas. He married Elizabeth Reeves on November 27, 1981; they resided in Gatesville since 1994. He was preceded in death by his parents; and nephew, Douglas Clayton Jones. Robert is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Lipsey; son, Robert Lipsey II and fiancée, Sarah Payne; sisters, Linda Lipsey Jones, Nancy Lipsey Oats, and Sandra Lipsey Hayman; and nephews, Casey Jones, Corby Jones, and Sam Oats.
