Donald Shinn, age 82, of Plano passed away Monday, June 30, 2014. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at King Baptist Church. Burial will follow at King Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Donald was born on September 17, 1931 in Herrington, Kansas to the late John and Oma Attebury Shinn. He grew up in Herrington, Kansas and graduated from Herrington High School in 1949. He entered the U.S. Army in 1949. Donald served for 20 years, retiring in 1969. He married Susan Claudette Mohler in 1967, she preceded him in death on July 30, 2013. He resided in Plano, Texas since 1969. Donald worked for Texas Instruments for 30 years, retiring in 1999. He was a member of American Legion, Shriner’s, 33rd Infantry Regiment, and the Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Harold Shinn and Lawrence Shinn; and sister, Mamie Chronister. Donald is survived by his son, Robert Shinn and wife, Samantha; grandchildren, Ashley Shinn, Tyler Shinn, Emma Shinn, Clay Ament, and Kari Ament; brothers, Henry Shinn and Robert Shinn; sister, Betty Jo Plank; and numerous nieces and nephews.
