Roy Huckabee

Roy Huckabee, age 89, of Jonesboro passed away Sunday, July 6, 2014. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Ireland Cemetery. There is no set time for visitation. Roy was born on September 20, 1924 in Ireland, Texas to the late Charlie Huckabee and Rosa Tyler Huckabee. He served in U.S. Army during W.W.II. He lived in Ireland most of his life and was a farmer and rancher. He married DeEtta Redman on February 29, 1948, she preceded him in death October 14, 1997. He later married Peggy Ann Rivers. They resided in Jonesboro. Roy worked for the Texas Highway Dept. until retiring in 1990. After retiring, he loved gardening, fishing, and dancing. He was a member of V.F.W., Post 8230. He was a Baptist. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Nora Ann Huckabee. Roy is survived by his wife, Peggy Huckabee; sons, Hefty Huckabee and wife, Judy and Charles Huckabee and wife, Margaret; daughters, LaRue Painter and husband, Bobby, Donna Cantwell and husband, Jay and René Mengelkamp and husband, David; 13 grandchildren, Tammy Huckabee, Tracy Hutchison, Tanya Aviles, Amanda Huckabee, Beverly Williams, Becky Lisenby, Alicia Sims, Stacy Erlanson, Brian Cantwell, Chris Cantwell, Steven Painter, Michael Painter, Trizma Ingram; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
