Jason Todd Byrd, age 31, of Gatesville passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Friday, July 18, 2014 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Post Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 17, 2014 at the funeral home. Jason was born on January 31, 1983 in DeLeon, Texas to Lee Barton and Tammi Byrd Barton. He loved riding his motorcycle, playing horse shoes, hunting for arrowheads, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family. He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. Jason loved being happy and enjoying life, which he did to the fullest. He loved playing jokes on people; he was a man of few words but words of wisdom. He was preceded in death by his “Papa”, Rick Watts, whom he loved very much; and uncle, Ricky Byrd. Jason is survived by his loving wife, Lonna Gossett, as he called her “My Angel”; his children, Braiden, Brayleigh, and Brookelynn “Jumbo”, his dad, Lee Barton; his mother, Tammi Barton and Ronnie Warren, Lance Nichols and Brandi and Courtnie Zacha and Franky; his sisters, Jessica and Kobi Works, Tiffany and Andrew Cullar, and Stephanie Barton, and Harley McGovern; his “Nanny”, Dolly Watts; his “Pawpaw”, Sam Byrd; his aunt, Sharon Hohertz, Heather, Hailey, and Hopie Hohertz; his mother-in-law, Christine Patterson, Donna and Wayne Watts; nieces, Paislee and Saydee Cullar, Ginny Rhymes and family, Justin Cooper and family; nephews, Braxton and Levi Works, Harley and Cole Patterson; and many cousins and friends; grandson, Layden Nichols, whom he called “Uncle Grandpa”.
