Joseph Clayton Patterson, age 88, of Pearl passed away Thursday, July 17, 2014. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 21, 2014 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Murphree Cemetery in Evant. Joe was born on September 6, 1925 in Coryell City, Texas to the late Bob and Belle Moore Patterson. Joe graduated from Gatesville High School in 1944 and joined the Army Air Corp and US Air Force serving during WW II and the Korean Conflict. After completing his time in the Air Force he married Helen Bates in 1962. He began he career with Bell Helicopter and worked there several years before moving back to Coryell County in the early 1970’s. After moving back he had a small TV repair shop and loved to garden and share his produce. Joe was passionate about reading and bird watching. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen Faye Patterson; siblings, John Fate “Pete” Patterson, Theodore “Ted” Patterson, Charles Edward “Mutton or Bo” Patterson, Bobby Gilbert Patterson, Ralph Raymond “Vick” Patterson, Bonnie Killgore, Omajane “Red” Applegate, Junie Dean Williams, Thelma Elowese “Pug” Smith, LaVerne Bates Joe is survived by his step-daughter, Kay Baker and husband Buddy and their children, Shane and Micah Baker and step-great grandchildren, Trinity and Landray; siblings, Mayme “Pat” McDonald, Dolores “Snookie” Ramsey, Georgia Arnett and Joy Bates Ross.
