Dan M. Swenson

Dan M. Swenson, age 87, of Gatesville passed away Saturday, August 9, 2014. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 15, 2014 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kurt Fuessel officiating. Interment will be in Minnick Family Cemetery in Cedar Park, Texas. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 14, 2014 at the funeral home. Dan was born on February 14, 1927 in Manor, Texas to the late Tom Swenson and Ollie Roberts Swenson. He married Helen Mozelle Smothers on August 8, 1953. They resided in Leander most of their married life. She preceded him in death on April 11, 2000. After her death, he moved to Pottsville until 2011 when he then moved to Gatesville. He grew up and worked on his family’s farm. Most of his career was being a butcher for various companies and owned and operated Swenson Meat Market in Round Rock from 1977 to 1983 when he retired. He was a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his son, Larry Clay Swenson; and daughter, Jaynene Swenson. Dan is survived by his sons, Dan (Hap) Swenson and wife, Beth of Round Rock and Terry Swenson of Austin; daughter, Karrie Harris and husband, Elliott of Hamilton; brother, Eddie Swenson of Milano; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
