R. L. “Bill” Hooker, age 87, of Gatesville passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2014. Funeral services will be 9:00 a.m., Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Greenbriar Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at the funeral home. Bill was born on July 25, 1927 in Briggs, Texas to the late Walker Kenon Hooker and Nancy May West Hooker. He resided in Texas his whole life. Bill married Bettie Featherston in 1970. He enjoyed hunting fishing, camping, and playing 42. He always took care of his family and was faithful to his church. He was a member of Oasis Worship Center. He was self-employed and he and his wife owned and operated Hooker Upholstery for many years. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Renalda McGehee; one sister; four brothers; three grandsons, Chester Lee, Aaron Gumbert, and Jeffrey Coleman; one granddaughter, Patricia Coleman; and four great-grandchildren. Bill is survived by his wife, Bettie Hooker; children, Vivian Moore and husband, Travis, Connie Lee and husband, Chuck, Alice Breckenridge, Robert Brown and wife, Sue, Thelma Gumbert and husband, Mike, Mary Lou Breshears and husband, Thomas, Belinda Chasteen and husband, Troy Dale, Cheryll Ann Baker and husband, Phillip, Larry Wayne Brown and wife, Jeana, and Roy Hooker and wife, Sheila; one brother, James Hooker and wife, Sandy; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
