Peter Bernard Lapp, Jr.

Peter Bernard Lapp, Jr. passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2008 in Gatesville, going home with the Lord. A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 PM Saturday, September 13, 2008 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Gatesville. Burial will be at All Souls Cemetery in Long Beach, CA. Mr. Lapp was born September 30, 1930 in Mercer County, North Dakota. He was the son of the late Peter Lapp and Julianna Kutzka Lapp. His parents came to the United States in 1909 from Gluckstal, South Russia. He served in the Army during the Korean War. After his discharge he continued his trade as a pipe welder. He serviced oil fields in California and LAX in Los Angles and the refineries in the Los Angles area. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, flying and owning his own plane. On October 24, 1955 he married Janet Fischer in Fairbanks Alaska where he was stationed with the army. Peter is survived by his wife of 53 years Janet, children; Linda Bensema of Houston, Michael of Howell, Michigan, Debra McLaughlin of Aurora, CO. His younger son Jeffrey Lapp died September 13, 1985. Peter has 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandsons. He will be greatly missed by his great grandsons who he loved dearly. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Our lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Gatesville.
