Bonalyn Garrett Herrington, age 87, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2014 at her home in Gatesville, Texas. A visitation will begin at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Pidcoke Baptist Church with a Celebration of Life Service following at 6:00 p.m. with the Rev. Don McConnaughhay officiating. Burial will follow at Pidcoke Cemetery. Bonalyn was born September 4, 1926 in Temple, Texas to the late W.P. (Will) Garrett and Willie (Maples) Garrett. She lived the majority of her life in the Pidcoke community. She attended school in Pidcoke, and then transferred to Gatesville where she graduated after 11 years of school in 1943. Bonalyn married D.E. Herrington on June 10, 1943 in Coryell County, Texas. She worked and retired from Fort Hood as a Civil Service employee. After joining the Gatesville Chapter of the Eastern Star, she served as Worthy Matron for one year. Following in her Mother’s footsteps, she was pianist at Pidcoke Baptist Church where she was a member her entire life. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son-in-law, Cecil Bartlett. She is survived by her daughter Shirley Bartlett; two grandchildren, Randy Bartlett and wife Denise, Susan Wilson and husband Corey; three great-grandchildren, Max Bartlett, Preston Hass and Spencer Wilson; and step-great-grandchildren, Bailey Soltow, Emily Soltow and Tyler Soltow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pidcoke Baptist Church, 11125 F.M. 116, Gatesville, TX 76528 or to Pidcoke Cemetery Association, 105 River Ridge Dr., Gatesville, TX 76528
