Evelyn Roberts

Evelyn Roberts, age 91, of Rice, Texas passed away Friday, September 26, 2014. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 29, 2014 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service. Evelyn was born on March 3, 1923 in Fort Gates, Texas to the late Frank Sheridan and Florence Key Sheridan. She grew up in Fort Gates, attending school in Fort Gates and graduating from Gatesville High School in 1940. She married Everett Roberts in 1941. They moved back to Gatesville in 1975 after Mr. Roberts suffered a heart attack. He preceded her in death in 1994. She was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church in Gatesville and moved her membership to Chatfield United Methodist Church upon moving close to her daughter. Evelyn is survived by a daughter, Sue Brown and husband, Royce of Rice; sister, Nita Baize and husband, Cleddy of Gatesville; three grandchildren; six great-grandsons; one sister-in-law, Joanne of Pryor, Oklahoma; and several nieces and nephews.
