Charles (Dougie) Bird

Charles D. Bird, age 89, of McGregor passed away Saturday, September 27, 2014. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Smith-King Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 3, 2014 at the funeral home. Charles was born on October 27, 1924, in Flat, Texas to Ed and Sallie Ross Bird. He was a farmer and rancher by trade and loved to play music. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; three sisters; three brother-in-laws; one nephew; one niece; and one great-great-nephew. Charles is survived by his 10 nieces; 32 great-nieces and nephews; 58 great-great-nieces and nephews; and 11 great-great-great nieces and nephews. What a wonderful family. The family would like to thank Westview Manor in McGregor and all the staff who cared for and loved Uncle Dougie for nine years. Also a thank you goes to Providence Hospice for their care for the past 3 years.
