Belvin Ross Lary, age 83, left his family and friends on this earth to be with his family, friends, and Father and Savior in Heaven on November 3, 2014. A Memorial Service of Honor will be held at the Hay Valley Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 8, 2014, followed by a time of visitation and fellowship. Belvin was born in Purmela Texas, the third child of Marvin Stanley and Mary Irene Herrington Lary. Belvin graduated from Gatesville High School in 1948. He went to college in north Texas to study Agriculture and Engineering, and Howard Payne University to study Ministry. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1952, serving for 2 years in San Diego and Quantico; Belvin was a Korean Wartime Veteran. He married Wanda Joe Williams of Gatesville on June 8, 1955 at Hay Valley Baptist Church. They relocated to Austin, Texas for Belvin to begin school at the University of Texas. Belvin and Wanda joined the beloved Hillcrest Baptist Church, of Austin, enjoying friends and family. He worked for the State of Texas into the early 1980’s, and retired from the U.S. Post Office in 1995. Belvin and Wanda relocated back to Coryell County, involved again at Hay Valley, and enjoyed the household energy of boyhood through the adventures of their three grandsons, daughter, Elaine, and son-in-law, John Fitch in nearby Waco. Belvin was faithful to his family and Heavenly Father. His manner was consistent and moving-forward, methodical, always with intent and accomplishment. He gave the gifts of example in steadfastness, loyalty, quiet service, and dedication. Belvin was preceded in death by his parents; his older sister, Orene; his older brother, Travis; and his younger brother, Troy. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Joe Williams Lary; his daughter, Elaine Lary Fitch, and son-in-law, John Edward Fitch, and their three sons, Ryker, Davin, and Brazos. He is also survived by sister-in-law, Barbara Lary; brother-in-law, Charles Williams; sister-in-law, June Williams; sister-in-law, Dolores Williams Davis; five nephews; five nieces; and many cousins and extended family.
