Lois Drew Meeks

Lois Drew Meeks, age 95, of Gatesville, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2008 at a local nursing center. Services are scheduled for 2:30 PM Saturday, November 1, 2008 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Royce Pennington officiating. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 1:30 until service time on Saturday. Lois was born August 7, 1913 in Normangee, Texas. She was the daughter of Carl “Bud” Drew and Sena Robinson Drew. She spent her youth in Dora, New Mexico, where she graduated from Dora High School. On December 26, 1931 she married Manson Meeks and they ran the Meeks Dairy for years. She was a nurse at Gatesville Hospital and assisted in labor and Delivery. She was a member of the Gatesville Church of Christ. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Manson Dewey Meeks, sons; Dean Meeks, Lew Weldon Meeks and Woody Meeks, daughter-in-Law; Margaret Lynn Meeks, sisters; Faye Drew Magness, Wren Gallaway, Nadine Brisher, and one brother; Carl J. Drew. Survivors include grandchildren; Jim Meeks, Wesley Meeks, Terry Meeks, Andrea Meeks, Drew Paige, Lori Meeks, and David Meeks, great grandchildren; Sara, Lina, Bob, Heather, Garrett, Gavin, Bethny, Andrew, Marshal and Miranda; great great grandchildren; Isabella and Gabrielle, one daughter-in-law; Mary Meeks.
